BRIDGETON - The city has been awarded $160,000 through the state Transportation Trust Fund for the reconstruction of Terrace and Spruce Streets.

State Sen. Stephen Sweeney, Assemblyman John Burzichelli, and Assemblywoman Celeste Riley - all 3rd District Democrats - announced the grant Friday.

TRENTON - Legislation that would require students criminal histories to be reported to school districts and passed on when students transfer schools was given unanimous approval Thursday by the Senate, and now heads to the desk of Gov. Jon S. Corzine.

SALEM - Two Cumberland County towns will split $995,825 in state Small Cities grants to the 3rd legislative district.
State Senator Stephen Sweeney, Assemblyman John Burzichelli and Assemblywoman Celeste Riley announced the grants totaling almost $1.7 million to municipalities in the district on Thursday.

Lawrence Township will receive $400,000 for sidewalk safety and accessibility. The project includes curbing, drainage and lighting on Maple Avenue.

WEST DEPTFORD TWP. - State Senate Majority Leader Stephen Sweeney, Assemblyman John Burzichelli and Assemblywoman Celeste Riley on Tuesday announced $328,000 in Clean Communities grants to be split among the third legislative district's 40 municipalities.

The grants are used for litter prevention and public education, adopt-a-highway campaigns and graffiti cleanup.
