John Burzichelli
A small business owner, Deputy Assembly Speaker John Burzichelli is working hard to get our economy back on track. He passed a bill to reduce red tape for businesses, pushed to expand access to loans and voted to give local businesses a $3,000 tax credit for every job created in South Jersey. Assemblyman Burzichelli wants to make our economy more competitive by reforming the tax code for businesses and growing industries.
A member of the Budget Committee, Assemblyman Burzichelli has cut more than $4 billion from the state budget in the last two years. He passed a law to streamline government and cut costs by doing away with inactive boards, commissions, committees and task forces. A strong advocate for seniors and middle class taxpayers, he voted to cap property tax increases for homeowners and expand the Senior Freeze program.
Assemblyman Burzichelli is fighting to change the way Trenton does business by cracking down on the corruption that costs taxpayers millions. He increased fines for corrupt politicians, imposed prison sentences of up to 20 years, took away pension and retirement benefits and allowed the state to recover illegal profits from any politician convicted of crimes. Now he’s pushing for a law that would institute mandatory prison terms for corrupt officials.
Assemblyman Burzichelli grew up in Paulsboro, where he lives today. He is managing partner of Hill Studio and Scenic in Paulsboro, which provides studio services and special effects to the motion picture, video and still photography industry. Assemblyman Burzichelli is one of the founding members of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Paulsboro and a former President of the Greater Paulsboro Chamber of Commerce.
